Hi everyone! Welcome to my first post here at the Gracest. My name is Grace (in case that wasn’t already obvious), and I am here because I am a sucker for all things style related. Cous Cous (my little puppy boy) is mostly just here to be my ultra cute accessory. 😉
I feel like in today’s trend saturated world, it can at times be incredibly difficult to feel at all unique or establish your own personal sense of style. Because of that, I wanted to start this blog to not only challenge myself to explore fashion and my own sense of style more thoroughly (i.e. have an excuse to buy lots of clothes…sorry husband ;), but to also have a community to share these explorations with. I think that having an impeccable sense of style is great, but above all it’s most important to remain true to yourself in your choices. After all, your clothes are an exterior reflection of who you are – don’t you want them to accurately represent you? 🙂
In an effort to be more aware of my personal style goals, I recently bought this book called The Curated Closet, which is all about steps you can take to actually figure out what your true sense of style is – and then build a lifestyle appropriate wardrobe full of pieces you love off of that. You know, instead of making a bunch of trendy impulse purchases on a whim and then feeling frustrated by a closet full of “nothing to wear” (can anyone else relate?!).
Now I’ll admit, my shopping strategies aren’t exactly calculated beyond my gut reaction of “I NEED THAT!” – but I’m hoping to get to the point where my purchases won’t be so dictated by practicality, trends, or impulse (okay let’s be honest, sometimes impulse buys are the best). Either way, I hope that you’re excited to join me on this journey of self exploration, and that you’ll be inspired to branch out more and explore your own sense of style as well! And remember, there’s nothing wrong with following trends or buying into what’s popular – as long as you remember to “be the most you” while you do it. 😉 Since we’re all new here, leave a comment below and introduce yourself – I can’t wait to get to know you!
