3 Ways to Wear Sparkle for the Holidays

Alright, so I know that it’s the end of December and the holidays are honestly almost over. But it’s been on my list to write this post since I shot these photos a few weeks ago, and I’ll be damned if I was gonna let them go to waste! (#persist) That being said, let’s talk about 3 ways to wear sparkle for the holidays! Or ya know, just any time of year. Because honestly I’d probably wear sequins every day of my life if you guys wouldn’t judge me for it. (New 2019 goal, perhaps? 😏 )

Now I know some of y’all are extra like me, and are like – umm the only way to wear sparkle is to cover your body with it entirely. Obviously. But for those of you who are more reserved, or ya know, just normal – I’ve got you covered too girl! Scroll below for 3 different ways to wear your sparkle, and for lots of outfit links and inspo as well.

1. THE STATEMENT PIECE

Now I know this is probably the most obvious way, so let’s just get it out of the way first. The first (and maybeee arguably best) way to wear sparkle is to just GO ALL IN. Like, rock that full on sequin dress, wear that entire beaded ensemble, cover yourself in swarovski crystals Britney spears style. Honestly. The sequin skirt I’m wearing in these photos is by far and away one of my favorite pieces I have at the moment. Dress it up with some heels or edge it up with some docs – but either way you’re ready to parrrrty at a moment’s notice! Like no one is ever gonna question what a fun person you are when you’re wearing all sequins, #amiright?

2. THE SPARKLY ACCENT

The next way you can rock sparkles this holiday (although this way is albeit, more acceptable all year round), is to just throw a lil accent in your outfit, such as my sweater in this outfit (linked below). This is perfect for when you want to feel festive or have a little fun without being mistaken for someone from Rupaul’s Drag Race. (I’m really into using gifs for this post…can you tell? 😝)

But seriously, any of these accent pieces will obviously be easier to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe and are far more wearable year round. Although once again, I have to say…I am in full support of wearing full sequin looks year round. WHY ISN’T THIS A THING! I feel personally victimized by this unspoken rule. Okay, sorry, I’m calm again. Back to you accent sparkles.

3. THE SUBTLE SHEEN

The third & final way you can wear sparkle for the holidays is to just give yourself a nice, understated sheen. This can mean any sort of metallic embroidery, a nice satin, any sort of crushed velvet or jacquard pattern, or simply a more muted matte sequin. All of these options are still entirely festive! Anddd *bonus* – they’re a lot easier to work into your wardrobe year round just like the accent pieces. You can even wear a lot of these to the office if you have a corporate job that requires you to dress in a more business casual vibe.

This outfit I’m wearing in these photos is actually a two piece metallic jacquard suit, that could easily be worn as separates to a more professional setting. Liiiiike let’s be honest – that blazer deserves to be worn every day of it’s life, whether it’s to the your 9-5 or a NYE extravaganza!

Now since we’ve talking about the holidays and all, I hope you guys have a fantastic (and safe! Don’t be dumb.) New Year’s Eve! I personally don’t even know what I’m doing yet (in true Grace fashion), but I’m sure I’ll be dressed way too over the top to do it (also in true Grace fashion). I’ll be back soon enough at the beginning of the year with some new posts for ya, and in the meantime I’d love to hear about what you’d like to see from me on this blog in this coming year! I’m looking forward to all that 2019 is gonna bring, and am thankful for each of you who have become a part of my little internet fam. 🙂

Now for my last (and possibly most important 😋) question of 2018 – what kind of sparkle wearer are you!?

xx. grace
