You know how growing up you have holiday traditions that your family does, and you kind of assume that those same traditions are just what everyone does? Like “oh, this is what’s normal. Everyone does this.” Maybe it was just me who naively thought like that, but once Daniel and I got married, I realized that everyone’s family has different traditions and backgrounds, and I was excited to get to create our own as a couple.
You know the old saying “you can never go home again”? Well, I can’t decide if it’s true or not, but when we were planning to travel back to West Palm (where we lived for five years) for the first time since we moved, I was unsure of how to feel. I was excited, of course – but also fairly nervous. How could I not be? After all, Palm Beach was our home for a fair share of our lives – it only makes sense that there would be some element of pressure for us to find it the same perfect place that we used to. But what if we didn’t? We’ve changed, the city has changed – would we love it like we used to? What would it be like now? Would I even still know anyone who lived there? Would it feel completely foreign, or almost like we never left?
Happy Friday guys! Today’s post is more of a personal one – I hope you’re okay with it. 😉 Daniel and I recently had the chance to do a kind of spontaneous, impromptu lifestyle shoot with a local photographer here in Phoenix (her name is Chelsey Herrera, and she is amazing!), and we decided to jump on the opportunity. While we may not always be the most photogenic or model-esque in front of the camera, we realized it’s been almost 5 years since we actually had any sort of *nice* photos taken together, so we figured that it was kind of long overdue at this point. Seriously – the last time we had professional photos done together was at our wedding…time freakin’ FLIES you guys! Lucky for you, we were able to act like (semi) normal people long enough to document it. Ha!
Hi everyone! Welcome to my first post here at the Gracest. My name is Grace (in case that wasn’t already obvious), and I am here because I am a sucker for all things style related. Cous Cous (my little puppy boy) is mostly just here to be my ultra cute accessory. 😉
I feel like in today’s trend saturated world, it can at times be incredibly difficult to feel at all unique or establish your own personal sense of style. Because of that, I wanted to start this blog to not only challenge myself to explore fashion and my own sense of style more thoroughly (i.e. have an excuse to buy lots of clothes…sorry husband ;), but to also have a community to share these explorations with. I think that having an impeccable sense of style is great, but above all it’s most important to remain true to yourself in your choices. After all, your clothes are an exterior reflection of who you are – don’t you want them to accurately represent you? 🙂
